Hanging on to Autumn

Have you noticed all of the Christmas decorations in the stores?
In some stores they were up before Halloween.

I am a traditionalist however, and as much as I love Christmas, I refuse
to put up any decorations for my favorite holiday until the day after
Thanksgiving.  Therefore I am showing you my autumnal cloche on the
entry table.  I'm hanging on to Autumn and enjoying each minute.

How about you?

Life goes by fast enough.  Let's not speed it up!

I am happy to be joining Marty for

Bentley ~ let's not pull out any of your Christmas squeak toys until
after Thanksgiving.  Okay?

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  1. After the last tub of Halloween decor was packed up, I scoured the basement for my itty bitty turkey collection. I haven't given into Christmas yet. That being said, my craft room is filled with Christmas crafting supplies. Does that count...hee hee.

  3. Good for you.
As much as I love Christmas, I don't want to ignore Thanksgiving. I love each holiday as I love my children. I can't skip one for the other.
I love Nordstrom's because they NEVER put up Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving.
Always a pleasure to visit your blog.

  4. Love how you decorated with the cloche, I pinned it onto my Pinterest. I'm on a search for ideas for the numerous tables we'll set up for Thanksgiving, 50 members of my husband's family will join us - this idea is great!

  5. I'm with you. I love Thanksgiving Day and like to focus on it before Christmas. Christmas is so commercialized these days!

  6. Hi Susan and Bently...

this past week, I wrote a couple of post in regards to this very same thing...I really am not a big fan of seeing all the Christmas out before Halloween.. Seems like the Holidays are all about buying and that is not what I love about them...I'm more about what the Holiday is really all about, and spending time with family and friends.....
    Thanks for posting..

I agree with you about not rushing Christmas! I do love the Christmas season, but I think everything should happen in the proper sequence.

  10. With a Halloween barely celebrated and no Thanksgiving in England, Christmas decorations have been for sale here since early October! I try to wait until after Thanksgiving to get the decor out of the box :) Your newest follower, Laura

Lovely to watch it being done so beautifully by you. I agree, each to it's season, and enjoy it all.

  14. Your autumn cloche is very lovely. I agree with you, they are pushing Christmas way too early. Thanksgiving is my very favorite holiday and I want to look forward to it, not skip over it. Let's celebrate autumn and Thanksgiving. Christmas and winter will come soon enough.

  16. I'm with you... and hanging on to fall too! After all winter doesn't officially begin until Dec. 22nd. Problem is, I'm so slow about getting things put together for Christmas that if I don't start a bit early it'll be Valentines day before I'm done;)
